W. Philip McRae for Clerk of Superior Court I'm a Democratic candidate in the primary election on March 3, 2026. The primary winner will then face another candidate during the general election on November 3, 2025. My fellow candidates certainly have the right to promote their own aspirations, but I hope voters will see fit to let me continue to serve until my 20th anniversary when I intend to retire. The job fits my personality and is both challenging and fulfilling. I enjoy getting up in the morning and going to work to earn a living. I'm a Scotland County native who spent 26 years practicing law until appointed as clerk in 2007 by Judge Richard T. Brown to replace retiring Clerk Whit Gibson. Many of the matters that I handled as an attorney are the same that I've handled for the past 18 years as clerk. My education, practical experience, and work-ethic help unravel complex issues which often arise. All local politics ought to be non-partisan, and my goal has been to treat everybody fairly without regard to political affiliation or cronyism. I'm a strong advocate to equitably deliver public access to the legal system. We vigorously enforce constitutional protections within the letter of the law, but with common courtesy and common sense. During the last two years the court system has seen many challenges implementing a statewide initiative called "eCourts" by which all records are now kept electronically. It's an enormous project which has been very difficult and time consuming. The system has required many changes in the way we operate, is often unstable, and still hasn't been perfected. However, with hard work it will eventually be considered a success. This is Philip McRae thanking you for all your support in years past and asking for your vote once again. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Paid for by the W. Philip McRae for Clerk of Superior Court campaign committee W.
